Prayers for you and your family , sorry for your loss. What a wonderful tribute to your mother in law and what love you showed her and such appreciation of your talents and love for them to use the quilt in that manner.

Sorry for your loss. Glad she could see and enjoy the quilt you made her. It really tells a lot about her and is a great reminder for your husband.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I just had a look at your memory quilt and it's gorgeous. I'm glad she did have some time to enjoy it.

I just got the chills reading your post. I am so very sorry that this happened. It sounds like she cherished the quilt that you made for her and what a wonderful tribute for the family to decide to use it instead of the floral spray.

This might sound strange and morbid...and since I am not much of a traditionalist...I love going to a wedding or even a funeral where the family plans something exactly to the person that is being memorialized. Heck my hubby has told me that he wants Beach Boys music playing at his funeral.

Something else I just thought of. When my mother lived with us...about a week before she passed...I talked with my cousin who lives in TN. He needed our address to send something. The day before she died it arrived...a beautiful silk flower arrangement in a big wooden bird house. It had a beautiful saying painted on it...can't remember the exact words now. But it was more of a get well soon arrangement...and of course I knew that was not going to happen.

I had put in the paper in lieu of flowers send donations to HOSPICE...but of course a couple of people sent flowers. But for her funeral I took the silk arrangement from her SIL, nephews and nieces and placed it on a small pedestal beside the coffin. It was for her and...I later told my cousin what I did and he said he was sorry it wasn't a sympathy arrangement but thought what I did was so nice.
