Hi, I have been working on an appliqué wall hanging with lots of ridiculously minuscule pieces. I’m doing glue stick then machine stitching the raw edges with invisible thread.

I’m hoping somebody can give me some crazy out of the box ideas to get around this fussy little stitching. Any and all crazy ideas welcome. Like just put a piece of netting over the thing and free motion over the top?? No judging! I’ve never finished my pineapple crochet pearl cotton tablecloth either lol. Plus im getting older and time is running out! Thank you!!

I have used that double side iron on stuff to attach tiny tiny pieces to a wall hanging. I think I traced the shapes onto one side of the iron on stuff, then cut around the shapes, then peeled the covering off the iron on stuff by scoring it with a pin, putting them when they went and then pressing them on. It will work I think if the wall hanging will likely never be washed. I think i used Lite Steam-seam 2.

The Laura Heine collage method has you fusing all of your pieces down with Steam-a-seam first and then machine quilting very close rows or crosshatches over the whole thing. It holds well although I 've only used this method for wallhangings and haven't washed a whole quilt made this way. It ends up fairly stiff.

if you like raw edges, glue the pieces on then just stiitch a small circle or other shape in the middle so the edges pop up and create texture.

Cut and paste is the only way I applique. Learned how to do that in 1st grade, no learning curve. LOL
