1000scraps

Once again I'm sorting my 1000s of scraps but this time I wondered how much fabric may stuck in these tiny little bits and pieces???
So I weighed 1m: it's a little bit more than 1 yard, of fabric to have a reference and then this happened:

my stripes: 3cm wide will give 65 cms:

My odd shaped scraps will give 2.80 m:

And some wider stripes will give 65 cms:

[ATTACH=CONFIG]465915[/ATTACH]

So, if you consider how much fabric costs: over here you'll pay 15 to 20 € per meter, there is a little treasure hidden in all the little scraps... And so I must think what to do with them....
And that are not all scraps I have gathered and stored......

Looks like you have some great scraps to play with and I am sure you will come up with some fantastic quilts which will reveal the hidden treasure you have in those bits of fabric. I will have to remember to not complain about fabric prices here in the US. Compared to Europe we are bargain basement!

I just realized not too long ago that I was throwing away stuff that other people would love. I used to give some of it to a friend and now I'm trying to think long term about what I can do with it. Waste not, Want not!

Those scraps are like rabbits...they seem to multiply. My favorite quilts are "Scrappy '30's" so I really do love to use them.

I loooove scrappy and crazy quilts, so only the tiniest scraps end up in the trash in my house.

Actually that's not even true; scraps I would 'throw out' (fabric and batting) go into a bag and when the bag gets full it gets sewn up and used as a pet bed! Or my 8 yo niece comes over and raids the bag to fill little pillows she likes to make for her dolls.

My first quilts were scrap quilts.. the idea of purchasing fabric for quilts was just not a concept we considered. Sometimes I think my scraps are more precious than my yardage. It is amazing how much can be made from scraps.

I hear you! Here in the US, when fabric is $9/yd that equates to 25¢ an inch. As fabric reaches $11/yd the per inch prices "inches" up to 30¢. The smallest scraps I save are 3/4" wide to us in mini quilts.

if they don't work together on one side, you can always use the BACK side! i'm sure you'll think of something to use them for....
