I need advice about a Singer Stylus Model 457? I found an ad for one that says it works perfectly. Comes with small table that has just been re-painted. They want $100 for it. Does anyone know if this is a good machine? I don’t know how old it is? Any info or suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!!

I have a stylist, but it has cams with it for the decorative stitches, so it's a later model than the 457. I bought it in the early 70's. I did a lot of sewing with it, but if you are wanting a real sturdy older Singer machine, I'd go with the 200s or 300s, etc. My stylist has plastic gears. JMHO - I think $100 is high.

Thank you aam5019! :) I would rather get a sturdier and older Singer preferably a 301 but thought maybe this was a good machine too.

I think that is way too high a price for that model.
