If you're after a traditional look I suggest the nine patch cot quilt that's in a book called Quilt – Handmade Style published by Murdoch Books in 2006. The book may be available in your local library, which is where I got it from.

I made that cot quilt in muted earthy tones for a little boy but it would look great in any colour combination really. You don't have to think pink - pale yellow and blue or pale greens and white would look lovely too.

Good luck with your project. I'm sure you'll be getting all kinds of wonderful suggestions from this group.

Pinwheels are cute... You could use pale pink instead of white and make the pinwheels out of lavendar, greens, etc...

MY all time favorite quilt to do for a baby is the Pinwheels and Prarie Points quilt by Jodi at Pleasant Home blog(formerly Simply This, That, and the Other) for the Moda Bake shop. That was a mouthfull.

Cute and quick with the charm pack or pick your own fabric and still turns out really cute!

I'm just making a baby quilt that is gender-neutral, but it could be made with more reds and pinks and am using fairytale fabrics and using them in a Disappearing Nine Patch, which is really fun and easy.

Sorry about the creases... just laid the blocks out on the bed to show my Quilt-mom :)
