Amen to that. I've been sending all of mine to Quilts For Kids but the shipping costs are getting insane. I'm checking in with a couple of friends that are in guilds that donate locally and that is what I plan to do in the future.

I contribute to QuiltsforKids.com. If you have a chapter in your area, you can give the quilts to them and they will stay local. Their website has info on what they accept and free patterns. Also, you can ask for a free kit which contains fabric to make a quilt, you just provide the batting and binding (or you can self-bind).

Google charities in your county. You can get a list of organizations and see which you prefer to donate to. If you call, they can tell you if there is a need for quilts or direct you to one that does use them. I have made the Warm Wishes quilt recently. Super easy and looks great.

Love this! What size does it turn out to be (using the 12" blocks)? Also, where can I get the pattern? I do alot of quilt donations to our guild & I get tired of making the same patterns (have made most of the mentioned ones) so I am always on the lookout for quick & easy ones for something different. Your reply would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would check with the (New Borns In Need) they collect quilts and blankets and other items for preemies and other children in need and hand them out. They are a non profit group that just wants to help families. I am almost sure there should be a group near you some where.
