what about a mottled or marbled yellowish green? I did that on my hunter's star with a very barely green batik (almost white) and I love the look!

I think the advice about making the quilt totally washable is good. One of the dangers of chemo is being so vulnerable to infection. Unfortunately hospitals and clinics aren't the most germ-free places. Having said that, I would have loved a quilt to take with me to treatments and especially to the hospital when the doctor put me in isolation because of an infection. I called it protective custody!:)

unfortunately most packer fabric is quite ugly but a mottled green and gold might be great.

Great gift!!! I'd suggest the light beige Moda mottled fabric also. Love the Star---what is the name of this pattern, please.

Well I went thru chemo and my quilt did not get stained. It does get very cold when getting chemo. It does something to our internal thermostat. lol. BYW I am now going on my sixth year post breast Ca
