No Janet - it's a Singer, and called a featherweight because it only weighs 9 lbs. (11 lb. with the box) which makes it ideal to bring to quilting classes. If you 'google' Singer featherweight sewing machines, you will see what we are referring to. It's a very small, compact machine with very simple mechanics. It's easy to self-maintain and the only thing you may have to replace if you do find one is the electric cord and/or the belt. Once you sew on a featherweight, you're hooked!

Janetks ... Singer makes the featherweight. The old ones are just work horses, practically indestructible, very reliable and have a beautiful stitch. I want one. This is what they look like
http://www.singer-featherweight.com/...ges/site2.html

I responded to a Craigslist posting about a Singer Featherweight but it was a more recent one, plastic looking. Good thing I asked for a photo cuz I thought it was the old one. It didn't have the plug or foot pedal and no way to verify that it worked so I passed on it, otherwise I might have gotten it for the grand kids to use.

I know! Crazy isn't it? I saw some really nice ones on ebay just now and looks like $300+ is what to expect to pay for one that has all the accessories, in good working order and beautiful condition.

Some idiots on ebay are asking over $1000...now they haven't done their homework, LOL

The only thing better than one FW is TWO! Congrats on the two new additions to your little sewing family. I'm a new mom of a Centennial today, so I join you in rejoicing. Isn't it fun. BTW....your husband is a keeper.....but then you already knew that.
