I have a fabric collection too. I am also guilty of just petting and putting it back on the shelf.

Am thinking if the wholesale cost goes up 35 cents a yard, then retail will likely go up 75 cents a yard

Maybe I can call myself a Product Inventory Controller Specialist?

I have quite the stash too. But things will not get any better with prices so I am still buying--I am sure I have enough to last my lifetime but I will continue to buy as long as I can.

I have lots of fabric that I really don't need to buy any more for a long time.

Has anyone talked to the lqs dealers and gotten any feedback as to what THEY think is going to happen to their customer base when prices go up up up?? I would think they won't be very happy indeed about this.
Wonder how it will affect their income.

To all us curators of textile museums: it's lots better building an empire of stash than to be buying nasty cigs and guzzling beer. Cotton does not cause any liver or lung damage. It's healthy.

Oh and BTW, we had a recent program at Guild given by a lady who only buys clothing from local thrift shops and makes her quilts from the items. They are really pretty too! Perhaps our local fabric stores would be willing to compromise if they thought they would lose their customers to other sources of quilt fabric.

I am still building my stash. I have lots of small pieces under a yard. Mainly leftovers from other quilters that often give away. I have a few larger pieces, but nothing seems to match, so I keep trying to add some new stuff that will compliment something on my collection. It seems I have been doing more scrap quilts rather than following any pattern from my quilting magazines. A little stressful since I don't know exactly how it will turn out or what pattern I plan to add next. My $$ is tight (whose isn't these days) and I am making myself a promise to only buy when absolutely needed. My local quilt shop has Monopoly printed fabric that I love, some really adorable puppy fabric and....well I just love the stuff I find in there. Wish I had a fairy God mother who could grant some wishes! LOL. There are so many wonderful fabrics in the shop that I just get lost looking and looking. Does that ever happen to you? Not hard to do, right!
