Can someone point me to good, FREE tutes for making purses/bags? I have never made a bag.
The internet is a great place to find free patterns and I have a number of sites bookmarked but I am overwhelmed. I would like some input from QB members, especially those who have made the bag using the tutorial.

1. Bag MUST be easy to make.
2. Tute must be easy to understand and, hopefully, have pics.....I have learning issues.
3. If you made the bag, please let me know of any problems you had with the tute.

I will be making them for family/friends that are various ages and would like to try different shapes/sizes...coin purses, makeup bags, toiletry bags,
handbags etc.

I would appreciate your input.

Ranger ... Check out Missouri Star Quilt Company for their video. There was a bag that Jenny demonstrated recently that appeared to be quite easy to do. Not just pics ... but you have the advantage seeing her do it on the video. Good Luck!

I like this one. I downloaded it so I could refer to it. When you get to my age, one tends to forget easily.
I have made several from this tute, adding a zippered inside pocket, and modifying slip pocket for phone, keys etc. I found Bobby easy to understand and think she did a great job on her video. Once your comfortable with this bag, you will modify it as you go along I'm sure. Good luck!

I have made this one 3 times now. Label your blocks as you go. The pattern is pretty forgiving, but it makes it easier if you mark your 1/4" start and stop mark. My pellon had lots of joins in it, I tried using up all my scraps and you can't tell. http://www.popularpatchwork.com/news...-sixteen/5448/ I even used up some left over blocks and I like the effect.

Make Three Totes/Purses from One Charm Pack is the YouTube video by Jenny Doan that I have used for making about 40 tote bags for family members over the past year. The totes are very easy to make and look great. You can find the printed instructions in Quilting Quickly, Spring 2013 pp. 55-57. I use Soft and Stable for the batting as it makes the bag stand up easily and it is a dream to quilt. Instead of batting, I use iron-on heavy interfacing for the handles. I add pockets to the lining and use a 2" strip of Velcro as a fastener. Many people have asked me to make them to sell; but for me, that would take away the fun of making them.
