Default ballpark figure for the straight stitch machine by Brother

does anyone know, roughly, the cost of the Straight Stitch sewing machine by Brother- the one that is practically identical to the BabyLock Jane? I think the # is PQ-1500s?

Thanks!
Debbie

I believe usually they retail for $800, on sale for $599 or $699.

However, I purchased mine (very slightly used) from a private party for $400, and it came with a New Joy frame. It's worth it to put the word out that you're in the market for one. You might join the Yahoo group, I've seen them pop up for sale from time to time there. It's a great machine!

I checked recently and Amazon has them on sale for $600 with free shipping. Also Amazon is an authorized distributor of Brothers machine so warranty will be honored at authorized repair service shops. Am thinking of getting one but I want to try it out first.

I have the Jane on a frame. It sews fine but has a complicated threading and an under the machine bobbin with case. Do not like it.
If you are not going to use a frame get a cheap Brother with the drop in bobbin. They are great machines for the price. I paid $129 for my quilting Brother with a detachable table.
