We don't wear shoes in the house. You don't have good control of the foot pedal with shoes on.

Im just amazed at how many of us sew barefooted! I do to! I thought I was the only 'nut' :-) that went barefoot all the time in the house! Can't stand shoes- take them off the minute I'm in the house.

I've always been a barefoot quilter and don't even wear shoes in the house. It feels very awkward to sew with a shoe on.

I will have to give this a try. I wear my slippers or shoes all the time.

I may sew barefoot at home but would not think of removing my shoes in a class.

I am in the same boat as you with the diabeties. i grew up going bare foot and I still do. I still go outside but am careful. I can still see the bottoms of my feet and check them every night. You learn to keep things off the floor and very careful with pins. I have been quilting at our church and I will go in my stocking feet there.

I sew in slippers. We take off our shoes in the house. We also live in Europe. That is common practice here.

I think folks sewing barefoot is the norm, but i NEVER go barefoot. I was taught to remove my shoes at the door, but I have "house shoes" and wear them all the time, sewing and not. How different we all are!!!
