I wear crocks or slide in sandles at home. I slide off one to sew barefooted. I learned to use the knee lift with my right knee, operate the foot pedal with my left foot. I don't think I could operate the foot petal with my right foot!

I sew with whatever I am wearing ON. I only wear western style boots and I can sew with those on too. Having said that I rarely wear shoes in the house so mostly I sew in my slippers or stocking feet in the summer.

Since I normally wear only socks or flipflops in the house, I sew barefoot or stocking foot. I like to feel the pedal under my foot. I feel like I can acheive better control pressure wise. I like to drive barefoot to. During the summer when I drive off comes the flip flops. During the winter, well I keep the tennis shoes on .

Our DIL is Asian and since she married our son we follow the no shoes on in the house and find our carpeting is staying cleaner longer. I'm used to not wearing shoes in the house now and am barefoot in the summer and wear some kind of sock in the winter to keep my feet warm. I'm used to sewing without shoes now and like it.

Another barefoot driver here or socks in the winter! Can't feel the foot pedal properly with shoes. I sometimes wear house slippers or flip flops in the house but any time I sit the shoes automatically come off. When I worked, my shoes were off when I was at my desk! And when I wore high heels I took them off to drive. I've never liked shoes...

Before I started spinning (wool) I would sew with my shoes on. But since I never use my wheel with shoes I've become acustomed to operating the pedal without my shoes on.
Though, I have always driven without my right shoe. I feel like I have more control that way. The same with the sewing machine now as well.
