Batik Help
I was gifted a bunch of jungle/vine/ocean like batik 2.5 inch pre cut fabric strips along with a huge box of fabric. I started a quilt as you go quilt that uses large 18 inch blocks. 4 corner blocks will be a jungle themed print. Apparently my math was off and I am short on 2.5 inch strips. I had my daughter go to JoAnn's and pick up a jelly roll of "batik"---but it isn't even the same kind of fabric. The JoAnns is 100% cotton much heavier weight. What is the batik I have?? I don't even know how to look for it bc if it isn't 100% cotton or doesn't say what it is made from, how do I find it. I have never used batik before-----Help!!
(first and last strip are cotton matching the jungle theme print--those are not batik)

I think most batiks are all cotton. They are usually a very fine weave. I know JoAnn's carries a line of batiks that is coarser. Still cotton but a more open weave. I have used them both. Though I prefer the finer weave.

There are also rayon batiks. Here's some ideas on how to do a burn test. You might be able to ascertain if it is cotton or rayon. https://www.wearingwoad.com/determin...nown-material/
Also, all batiks are by no means equal or the same. There are almost endless different color combinations and designs.
