Just like Cashs Mom, I use the exact same thread and needles and I have never had an issue, I almost always work exclusively with Batiks. I love that combo and it works well on all my fabrics.

I agree: For batiks, and especially when quilting, I like to use the Microtex Sharps.

I use 80/12, batiks are tightly woven and need a sharp needle.

I usually use a size 10 Organ needle on my batiks and a 14 top stitch for other quilting. It all has to do with the density of the fabrics.

I agree with Patrice, the thread needs to be cotton and the needle has to have a sharp point and deep scarf (indention) to pierce such a tight weave of fabric like batik. It has a high thread count and so you need to give that some thought. Don't use a batik as a backing too. It will be a double thick nightmare to quilt.

I would suggest that you use microtex needles. I started using them to piece and love them. They are very sharp and can handle almost every fabric. You might want to consider using a different thread too. The only thread I use is Aurifil and love it. Good luck to you
