Do batiks come in the wide width for backing?

yes they do, Hancocks of Paducah sell wide batiks as do other stores

Check out Thousands of Bolts and Sew Batik. My local shop carries a few, but the best selection is on line.

there is also a site called widefabrics. batik backings are a bit on the expensive side but fabulous! at our lqs they always carry 4 or 5 116" wide batiks, they are 18.95 a yard.

Yes, Hancocks of Paducah had a bunch of them at about $20 per yard. Their regular batiks were $10 a yard,
