I just made a quilt with wool batting and I'm SOLD!! pulled it out of the dryer after the first wash and it's so light and huggable! Go with the washable wool....it's cool in summer and warm in winter.

All of our quilts are made with washable wool. I'm always cold and my husband is always warm. Somehow wool adjusts to body temp or something more scientific is going on. My husband used to wear suits to work, they were all wool. Some were heavier weight than others but he was always comfortable in them. A fine quality tailored mens suit is always made of wool.

I too live in a WARM climate (California desert) and I prefer to use bamboo for my quilts. It is really light weight, easy to use, silky to the touch and drapes nicely. It is perfect for lap use in the house during the summer when the air conditioning is running on high and the knees get cold (LOL and it is 118 outside). It is also great in the winter when you only need just a little to stay warm.

Yes, I agree with the wool. I washed my quilt in cool water, tumbled dried on low for a bit, then spread it over a railing to finish drying. It's a wonderfully light quilt.
