I also have that fabric! Bet most of us also have/ had other butterfly prints, too.
Anyyway, I just noticed the butterflies seem to be printed on ( invisible) diagonal grid. You could sew wavy lines to make that grid and it would be easy stitching.

How about all over flowers? I had sky with clouds fabric that I did not want to cut. I backed it with solid and sent it off to have it quilted, leaving it her choice of what to quilt. She quilted birds all over! I thought that was brilliant! My grand kids loved it.

I like Quilte's idea!! It would be lovely and show off the butterfly's and the blended variegated threads would connectt them...all the ideas are great! show us what you choose when you finish, please.

yup this is exactly how i would do it! and have fun with it!
It is a lovely print and I'm glad you left it whole! 
How about outlining each butterfly?
Then do a loop-de-loop meander to the next one.
You could even toss in the odd daisy on the loops between.
Plus, it'll give a nice design on the yellow.
For thread, I would look for a pale variegated that coordinates.
It won't be too noticeable and might blend a little nicer around the butterfly edges, than a plain white.
How about outlining each butterfly?
Then do a loop-de-loop meander to the next one.
You could even toss in the odd daisy on the loops between.
Plus, it'll give a nice design on the yellow.
