I am considering buying a Bernina 230 Activa sewing machine and was wondering if anyone has one of these. If so would you reccommend it?

Over 10 years ago, I bought a Bernina Activa 145. I don't know if they are comparable? In 10 years it has only had two visits to the repair shop. After 5 yrs. I had to replace the foot pedal, I wore it out. At 10 years a little spring for the feed dogs had to be replaced. It is a great little work horse. I have recently upgraded to another Bernina but kept my Activa for a back up machine.

I have and love two Berninas, but not that one. I have never tried it. I do know that it comes with snap-on feet, but can use standard Bernina feet as well. The Activa 2xx line is being discontinued, so be sure to get a great price. They are made in a Bernina-run factory in Thailand. The 210 was $650 around December. That's all I got :)

They sound great. This one is a used one that belonged to a lady in which her Mother had passed away and she is moving and needing to sell it. It is $200.00 and has 9 feet attachments with it. She said it was in excellent condition. I thought it was a pretty good deal.

That sounds like a very good price. Have you been allowed to try it out by sewing on it?

No, I haven't. She lives about 60 miles from me and I have to make arrangements to go and see it. I guess she will let me try it out before I decide to buy it though. I will ask anyway.
