Thanks for all the wonderful ideas, everyone! I love the idea of doing a cathedral quilt, which I hadn't thought of but seems perfect. Denim is a great idea, but I've had my heart set on using flannel. So, I think I'll try cathedral pattern quilt in Maywood Studios flannel with wool batting. Thanks again for all your suggestions!
