I use this recipe:
2 T corn starch
1 cup of water
1 T Lemon juice (prevents refrigerating the starch)
Essential oil if desired
Put in a spray bottle and remember to shake the bottle after it has sat for long period.
Starch can be made stiffer by using more corn starch.

FYI: I was doing some surfing for good prices on Best Press and Joann's has it on sale online for $34.99.
They also have a coupon for 10% of your entire order & if you order over $50.00 or more your shipping is free. Sound like a pretty good deal.

Best Press is a sizing - not a starch. I live in Florida with all the bugs and they love starch!! It's made from corn starch so is a food source for them. Sizing is not food for them so you can use it and leave the fabric out. That's why I use Magic Sizing - cheaper than Best Press and has a very light scent. I also do not like heavily scented products. You can do more than one spray to get stiffer fabric if you want.

I love Best Press. Big time.
I like the linen scent... but while I could thrive on the smell of that stuff full-strength (I'm hard core!) ... I realize it's too strong for some folks.
I bought my last gallon of unscented and a quart of linen scent from Amazon. I mix the stuff. I use about 1 part linen to about 4-5 parts unscented.
For doing bag work, where pressing in pleats and such is important, the stuff just can't be beat.

I too am allergic to many scents so prefer to go with scent free everything. I've been able to get 33.8 fl. oz. refills at Hancock Fabrics and also use a coupon to save some money. I just refill the original spray bottle, I first bought, to try it out.
