All ideas and suggestions most welcome - for a birthday present for a nine year old step-grandson (aren't extended families complicated!). Something I can do fairly quickly for a birthday in a couple of weeks.
I made him a dinosaur cushion for Christmas, he's very keen on exotic animals - tree lizards etc - please help as I really have no idea at all!
    Thanks in anticipation,
    Penelope

what about a pillowcase? Kids always seem to love them..And they can be used for just about anything too..from putting on a pillow to using them as tote bags from toys to putting in clothes in to go sleeping over somewhere..

Extended families are extremely complicated! He's at the age that he may do sleepovers. What about a qillow? In a cool camo fabric. Bed roll? Sleep pants long and short (maybe matching)? Does he do sports? Water bottle carrier, cool neck ties (you wet these and put around neck to keep you cool).

Just a couple of thoughts. Good Luck!

I made my step-grandson a quilt using horizontal strips of fabrics with dinosaurs, frogs, etc. which was fairly quick and easy.

Head to a fabric store and pet fabric till something occurs to you. And forever after, refer to him as a grandson, period.

Does it have to be something sewn?
How about a book - there are some beautifully illustrated books about exotic animals for that age level out there.

And if you feel you need to make something - make a bookmark using exotic animal fabric.

Easy, peasy & done in no time. :-)

I have a passel of boys and a small/medium size backpack bag is a prized possession at my house. They put athletic shoes, a change of clothes, swimsuit & towel, frisbee & snack ... anytime they are going somewhere that they will be for awhile or may need a change of clothes. Should be easy enough to find a fabric with his interests, or a canvas and applique something on.

    Something like the following link:
