I am really in the minority here, but I love the Moda Bella solids - use the black lots. I don't like anything about Kona and I can spot it a mile away. It has a coarser weave to it that I do not like. I love the hand of the bella line - I have lots of colors and they are all the same. I needed a certain color and was at Fabric Shack, and Kona had the color I needed, but I couldn't do it. This one was thin and the weave was distracting. I found Moda Bella at a quilt show a few years ago and fell in love.

I was wondering the same as well. I have been looking at black fabrics and actually intend to go with Moda Bella (I heard Kona is a bit scratchier to the touch, and I already have one with a bit of a coarser weave (Ikea Ditte)).

There is Bella Black and Bella Soft Black. Has anyone tried/seen them both? What's the difference?

I like the Michael Miller Jet Black for the richness of color.

HOWEVER, I highly recommend shrinking it before cutting it because I had over two inches width of fabric shrinkage.
(On three different pieces purchased at different times off different bolts of fabric.)
