Mkotch, I love your scrappy black and white but I'm not figuring out where the block is. Looking online for the book you mention--there are several with that title. Which one did you use? Beautiful use of scraps!!

I am collecting black and white fabrics for a log cabin quilt. Be sure to show us what you do with your scraps!
I used black and white for a log cabin wedding quilt for a nephew and niece. Still used a chicken red center block to honor the tradition of the fire in the hearth of the home. I did a meander pattern for the quilting but put a heart in each red center block. Wanted this young couple to have a little warm reminder that their heart and love is the center of their new home.

Default Black, white and red all over

Some of our guild members made simple blocks with black and white scrappy fabric and added somewhere on the quilt. They turned out really cute. Sometimes simple is best.

When I get around to it, Accuquilt has the machine embroidery designs that will stitch around the orange peel using my embroidery machine and will buy that then I did a circle one a few years ago and was pleased how it turned out.
What a great idea, Murphy! I didn't know AccuQuilt sold embroidery designs to compliment their dies. I'll have to check that out!

This was my 12 yo gd's first attempt at quilting. She purchased the b/ws at WalMart and ! gave her Moda swirls for the centers. I hope she still has it because she worked very hard.

I make quilts for our bi-annual family reunions. I generally pick a color, then ask my family members to send me a quarter or half yard of that color. one year I did make a black and white log cabin quilt, which was well received. This year's quilt was a Grandmother's Fan quilt using blue fabrics from the "stash" left over from other quilts. I made a Dresden Plate quilt, which my middle brother won and he told me that I would be hard pressed to make a better quilt. i was absolutely amazed with all the beautiful blue fabrics and it was beautiful if i say so myself. Don now still raves about that quilt, as he won it. There are many quilt patterns that would look good in white and black fabrics.

Whatever pattern you decide, add a few pops of color here and there to jazz it up. Gonna be really nice!
