The way I keep my bobbins neat is; I use the thingies (technical term) that you use when you are painting your toenails. keeps them in check and you can still see the thread. Also very inexpensive.

After you "tube" your bobbin, you can set it on top of your thread spool and secure it to the spool with a golf-tee. Thread and bobbin stored together.

I have different bobbin cases for different types of thread: cotton, polyester, So Fine, Bottom Line, etc. But your idea works great too.

That is a great idea, I did try the tiny pony tail elastics, but still could not easily see what color was in the bobbins, the tubing is a great idea. Thanks for sharing, no more lose threads!

Make sure you buy a piece long enough so you have a length to hang on to. I use a large serrated knife from my knife set. I think it might be the bread knife? I cut almost through and use an old pair of scissors to finish it and cut the slit. If you have a good pair of garden pruners, they would probably work too and you wouldn't need the extra length to hang onto.
