If all the legs are going to be black, then I'd keep all the heads black, too. So in the case of the dark purple print, I'd make the sheep body the lavender so you can give it a black head (lots of contrast between those two fabrics), maybe with the purple print for (accented) ears. Anyway you do it, though, it's going to be adorable. Great pattern you came up with, especially those jiggly legs.

Tartan, what an adorable pattern you drafted! Love that sheep! My first thought was the lavender for the head, because of the contrast. But now I'm thinking all black heads & light bodies would be very pretty -- or, at least, black ears & noses! I can't wait to see your completed top!

The black with purple patterned fabric did not show up at all so I went with the mauve. I am going to have to over cut the pieces on the left ear as it is coming up a bit short. It is just 1/16 short so I could sew it into the seam but I think I will try to redo that unit. Maybe the third block will come out perfect?
I really like the mauve face with the purple print.
Would you be willing to share your pattern? I would love to make set of 4 as placemats for Dad.[/QUOTE
I drafted it out to yield be a 14-1/2 inch block, alas it consistently sew up to 14-1/4. I figure at the least they are the same size and no one will notice they are smaller then planned. I snowballed all my triangles so you might want to draft the actual pieces. If you still interested, PM me and I will give you a list of my pieces.
