Default Borders for a Carpenter's Star

I just finished a carpenter's star - purple and yellow on white, and need to add borders on top and bottom to make it lap sized. I have 3 different border styles in mind and want your opinion ....1. piano key of purple/yellow, 2. standard 4" borders of purple/yellow 3. 2 rows of alternating pieces of purple and yellow (like a brick pathway - horizontal). I just can't seem to decide what will look the best and the recipient doesn't care. Help me, Please!

Default Border for Carpenter's Star

I personally think the third option with the brick style would be pretty. I don't see it very often as a border.

Whatever you decide please post a photo so we can rave about how gorgeous it turned out.

Third option, in my humble opinion. My mind's eye like's the idea of a horizontal border surrounding the radiating Carpenter's star.
