i've already b------ about the mother board going out on my machine[$400.00]'so i have been bidding on a pfaff expressions4 for a week.was up to $1400.00,but either my cp screwed up,or e-bay did,the bidding never showed , the time didn't change.anywaywhen i looked,i lost thebid w/ no chance of raising mine.[it went for $1425]i was actually relieved, couldn't believe it! my question for you all ...i'm thinking ofgetting the brother fixed.i went throughall the adv.of the pfaff, also the viking saphire870,the only diff. was the 10" throat & bobbin sensor! do you think i'd be crazy to fix the brother,or spend $1700.00 on new?
hope this makes sense,i'm a little shook up this am thanx for your help, dar

A lot depends on what you can afford ?

But the Brother CS6000i is only 159.00 new , so I am confused about the 400.00 mother board

Why not just buy a new machine with the $400 you would spend on a repair. You can get a very good machine for that $400! Plus as Sharon commented on the fact that the broken one only cost $159.00.
I have a very GOOD Brother machine (4000),and I love it!! I only paid $129.00 for it from a Wal-Mart store near me.

i guess i didn't describe the brotherfully. it cost $1600.00 new 12yrs ago .it is a brother pc6000& was on sale when i bought it.after losing the bid on the pfaffexpressions4,i went thru my brother manual & only found about 3 things that the pfaff has that it doesn't ! i wanted the 10 "arm, the bobbin sensor, but can't justify spending $1500-$1600 to get it.i am taking it to a brother dealer next week ,i think if they have a full warrenty on a new mother board,i'll have it fixed.it actually has more stitches etc than the new pfaff and viking,inc2-3"quilting designs ! been solong since i used it ,i really forgot what all it has !!! will let you know what idecide.thanx for your help, dar
