I'm going to start to learn how to do Embroidering. Any tips or suggestions? Obviously I don't plan on starting off with anything complicated right away. Just something simple to get my feet wet so to speak.

Also, if you have any embrodery projects you have done, pictures would be awesome!

What type do you want to do? For something very simple I would suggest a pre-printed cross embroidery. There are all sorts of kits available and many you can put together to make a quilt. Herrschner's usually has a nice variety with not to much to invest to see if you like it. Something very quick results would be a pillow case set - and maybe just buy iron-ons . My mother taught me using tea towels and the iron-on patterns.

If you want hand embroidery, Crabapple Hill has some beautiful patterns. If you are a beginner, there are lots of books...try Hobby Lobby or JoAnn's for some simple patterns. I also love counted cross-stitch and you can find simple kits for that. I am self taught with my embroiderying and have been at it since I was young. I love it but don't do much of it. I have blocks of tea cups that I made...pattern from Crabapple Hill and have yet to put them into a quilt. Must get on that!!

I was thinking of doing hand embrodery. I didn't know you could machine sew embrodery. I personally would rather do it by hand I think though. (I am totally new to this! Lol.)

Try googling "red work." It's pretty simple hand embroidery that will give you a good feel for how much you will like the process. I love it!

Ifw045, thank you for that link. Some of that free motion embroidery is fantastic and I really need to try that.
Magicthread, there are so many free patterns on the web...just do it. Even try coloring books for patterns. Or just draw your own pattern. I love the look of hand embroidery.
