    Default Best Printer for Fabric?

I'm looking for a new printer and would like opinions/experiences, on which printers are the best for fabric printing. I don't do a lot of printing on fabric, but when I do I would like a good print. I see some pictures on the board that are beautiful. I have an HP now and the prints I get are "ok". Looking for suggestions! Thanks

It's the ink that makes the difference, not so much the printer. Epson is the leader in pigment based inks, so any of their printers that use those instead of the more common water-soluble dye-based inks would be the best choice for fabric printing.

I've used my HP many times and haven't had any problems. As long as I use HP ink it seems to work fine on fabric.

If you're not totally set on printing yourself or want wider fabric you could try Spoonflower (I know, they're a bit pricey, but I've had beautiful results with my design and all those that I've ordered from the other fabric designers there).

Whatever is a front loading printer and ink jet should work just fine. One of my friends just couldn't get the top/back loading printer she had to work well. We printed her labels on my printer.

Though I do admit to taking a piece of pabric ironed on freezer paper with me to try printers before I bought one. What I bought I had to try at home because there wasn't a floor model; they did promise a full return of my $$ if it didn't work to my specifications. It worked so I kept it.

I didn't know that Spoonflower did printing work. Thanks for the information.

The best for me is the Epson, I have the Claria which works w/fabric up to 18" and has the pigment-based ink that is certainly better, from my experience, that the Dell or HP inkjet printers I used before I purchased this Epson. The printer costs more and so does the ink, but the fabric photos are gorgeous and with the heat setting, very important, have maintained brightness.

I have had HP and Epson printers. I use Epsons with DURABRITE ink. The phots are washable and mine have stayed true to color and not faded.
