I have strip pieced Blocks of 7&1/2 inches unfinished / 7" finished for a quilt top. I want to incorporate other blocks like maybe the Ohio Star/Flying geese/ Bear Paws into the same quilt top. How does one calculate measurements so that the Blocks will measure 71/2" unfinished/ 7" finished?
I've searched online but the blocks' measurements are different.
I have been trying to calculate but without success. 😧
Is there a method to this?

With a 3 X 3 block as you would have in a star or bear paw block. Decide your 7” finished block by 3 and add 1/2” seam allowance. Or another option is to make the pieces block a bit smaller and frame it out to the desired size. Here is one I framed out to fit the double 9 patch. Another option is since your blocks are scrappy, you can trim them down to fit the pieces blocks

As already mentioned, you can also make a 3 x 3 grid or 6 b 6 grid and add a 1” frame.

You will need a number that works with 7. It can be either larger or smaller size blocks such as 3 1/2, 14, 21.

It is easier to work with different numbers such as a 3, 6, 9, 12, system. Another option would be a 2, 5, 10 or 4, 8, 12 type of grid system.

Thank you all for your guidance and suggestions. You have set me thinking on the right path and I will proceed with a couple of practice pieces.
Also thank you for the Link to the many 7 by 7 " grid. I find it most useful.
To make different blocks will come as a breath of fresh air as I was getting a bit bored with the monotony of sewing strips.
