HELP -- my sewing machine was working fine until I broke a needle. When I replaced the needle, it kept telling me to check the thread (which looked to be in order). I re-threaded and it says the same message. I replaced the needle multiple times (differant needle company and size), removed and replaced the bobbin of course re-threaded the machine. When you watch the thread movement, it is not catching the bobbin thread, it is not traveling over the top of the bobbin casing. What am I missing? The machine is a Huskyvarna Diamond.

First suggestion I would make is to turn the machine off for a while to see if it resets and the message goes away.. You didn't lose any 'pieces' of the needle that might be hung up somewhere? Otherwise, I would suspect you might have knocked the timing off if you hit the foot or plate when it broke. Hope it is not serious.

I also suspect it is the timing - unfortunately for that there is nothing but a trip to the repair shop.

I suspect the timing is off but is the needle the right length or in all the way to the top? Do you have the needle turned the right way?

I agree with mermaid, turn your machine off for a bit so the computer can reset everything.

I'd let the machine 'rest' for a while as well. The other thing you might check is to see if there is a teeny tiny thread stuck in the bobbin casing. Had that happen with a friends older mechanical machine where the tension was off. Granted, not same situation but something else to check. Also, on my friends Viking Sapphire, neither she nor I could her machine to raise the feed dogs once again after she had lowered them. She ended it up taking to the shop and all they did was move the needle with the hand wheel - problem fixed.

thanks for everyones suggestions. Someone asked me if I removed the piece of needle. She suggested a good cleaning with the brush in case the needle was stuck. This seems to have done the trick. Diamond is working just as she should!
