Can I mix flannel?
I bought a 10” square bundle of Sweet Pea flannel by Maywood Fabrics. I want to use all the squares with a one inch sashing. Can I use cotton for the sashing instead of flannel?

I do .... but I usually wash flannel first because of shrinkage. Since these are precut 10" squares, they cannot be washed so just be prepared for possible shrinkage. Then again the fabric may not shrink as much as regular flannel since they seem to be made specifically for quilting. I look forward to seeing your quilt.

I mix regular cottons and flannels all the time, even batiks with flannels. No reason not to. I never prewash ( precuts) and have never had a problem using them with other cottons. There are lots of factors that figure in to shrinkage in quilts, including batting, backing, and type of quilting. I mix prewashed and unwashed fabrics, flannels, regular cottons, all kinds of types. I Wash and dry my completed quilts. Ive never had one turn out ( upsetting/ bad/ disappointing)
