Can you help me find textured quilting?
#1
I went to the Hershey quilt show and there was this quilt there with the hand quilting stitches placed in a very strategic pattern to create texture. I have never seen it before and have thought about it ever since. I have made this graphic to try to explain what I mean. Has anyone done this? do You know what I am talking about? Can you point me in the right direction to see other patterns?

The beige in the background is a solid color fabric. That is the texturing I am talking about. Actually that is not true. This is machine quilted in a very excat way to creat that pattern but this is similar to what I mean. I guess I didn't get a photo of the quilt I keep thinking about.

That is a type of trapunto. I enlarged the picture and you can see where the quilted areas were filled with batting to make them stand out. Or it was quilted over an extra layer of batting and the excess was trimmed away...but that would be hard to do in those little triangle areas.
That is a stunning quilt, I can see why your are intrigued with it :D:D:D

I don't think I was right... It looks like the quilt center is laying flat and it is the optical illusion... Was it flat or raised K?

Trapunto? I've done the kind you stuff from behind to create raised areas, but it looks like they've gone a step further, unless that is the fabric pattern I'm seeing.
Did they let you touch it? Trapunto is stiffer than regular quilting.

It also looks like they did a similar tracing around the leaves in the green fabric, making it stand out in a more muted manner...
I keep coming back and looking at this quilt, I see different types of detail work each time :D:D:D
