Just received a call from my dd in FL who wants to remove a logo that is on the back of her son's Karate uniform jacket. She thinks it is probably some kind of "painted on" logo as it is not an iron-on nor a patch. So, the question is how to remove this? The jacket is a cotton/synthetic combination and is "canvas-like" if you know what I mean or have seen these uniforms. I has been through several wash cycles. I thought maybe a bleach pen might work or perhaps painting over it in white to match the fabric. The other idea was to sew a patch of similar fabric over the logo but I don't think she wants to do this. Does anyone know if either of these would work or maybe have a better idea ... assuming it can be done? Thanks for any and all help! KLO

I don't think it will come out...especially since it's been washed already. I am sure it has set into the fabric. Does she want to change the label? She could make a new one and just sew it overtop of the old one...kinda like sewing a block onto a jacket or shirt. good luck...crafty_linda_b

You might try lighter fluid or finger nail polish remover ( the acetone kind), but try to test in a seam to see if either product changes the background fabric.

It won't come out. These are permanent, heat set designs. My son's karate uniforms have this also.

NO...it is probably screen printed on and it will NOT come out..you will just eat holes in the jacket if you try...

Thanks everyone for the responses. I thought this logo would not be removable but figured I had to at least ask. Heat set pretty much "sets" it for good, it seems. Like crafty_linda_b suggested, I mentioned to dd that she could sew a piece of similar fabric over the logo but I am not sure the place where her son goes will allow that either as they want just plain "uniforms" for everyone. Looks like she will have to buy a new one!

The logo was very likely silkscreened. That ink is NOT going to come off. Go with the "cover it with a patch" solution.
