Default Card tricks pattern

Does anyone have any idea of how to make the card tricks pattern so that eight overlapping squares appear instead of four? I would like to make a centerpiece for an octagon table.

Are you perhaps thinking of the Star Spin pattern? It is done with 8 striped triangles.

There are several version of Star Spin on quiltingboard if you use the search bar. I think you can purchase the pattern somewhere but on You Tube there is a good video by Katy Rogers under the title, Strata Star Table Topper Tutorial.

Be careful it can come out looking like a swastika.

Mike's Girl, yes it can as I found out when I sewed it together. I just keep a silk plant in the center.

Before the Germans ruined the swastika for everyone, it was an ancient American Indian symbol, and I have read that it is also on ancient temples in India. Such a shame that such a pretty little symbol was ruined by Hitler!
