    Default "Cat Bowl" Quilting

My sewing machine sits next to my cat's feeding station. He loves it, because he can come up there, grab a quick snack and get some pets too. Over the years, I've become lazy. Instead of getting up and pressing something with the iron, I just dip my fingers in to his (very fresh) water bowl and use the moisture to finger press my quilt pieces as I sew. If there is a seam that won't lie flat, or a piece needs just a tad of stretching to fit, my fingers aim for the bowl. I don't even have to look anymore. My cat, "Bondo," doesn't really mind. I think that now, I need to come up with a quilt pattern that looks like cat bowls.

It would be my luck to get water everywhere or get the quilt soaked. So, I just get up and press.

My cat is three years old and still loves to play with my straight pins and gets into everything. I don't let her or my two dogs in my sewing room. Much safer for all of us.

Yuck! No worries...the water is changed at least once a day and he rarely drinks out of it during the day.

I hope there are no mischievous grandchildren around your sewing and cat! My Kirk lost all the whiskers on one side that way. He used to keep me company, lying on a folded towel on my quilting table. I think the proximity of scissors and complacent cat was just too much for my grandson.
