I wish Marion or Sushi would write directions on how they made the lovely quilts. I just love both the patterns.

I, too, followed Eddie's instructions. In essence, his instructions are a machine-friendly version of the traditional method. Marion added a sewing step that may make the quilt a little easier. "I added an extra step that wasn't in Eddie's posts - I sewed a straight line down each of the "squares" to keep them down so that when I made the windows it was easier to fold them over"

There are a number of "
faux" Cathedral Windows patterns out there. Imho, none of them captures the true essence of the original. But they're worthy in their own right.

FWIW, while the many layers of fabric incorporated in a traditional CW pattern make a fairly warm quilt, I added a square of fleece behind each of the window features. It made it a little bit warmer - important for my 88-year-old mother!
