    Question Charity for rag quilts?

Could anyone recommend a charity or group which accepts donations of rag quilts? I would prefer an organization near my home in Albuqueque. Does anyone else enjoy making rag quilts more than bound quilts? Also, rag quilts seem well suited for gifting since they are so soft and cuddly.

Eagles, VFW, American Legion, Red Cross, Women's Resource Center, local emergency shelters, police/ fire departments, senior center, local churches.... There are many, many organizations / groups who put together ( care packages) for people in need, and organizations who help people in emergency situations ( families who suffer home fire, tornado, flood, what ever) most will happily accept your donations. If they can not, chances are they can tell you who does

I was going to say police dept. They may have a group that puts together bags for children removed from unsafe homes. Soft and cuddly is just what those kids need.

In addition to the above suggestions, your local pregnancy center might welcome rag quilts with a baby/kids theme. Our church group recently donated a number of quilts (including some rag quilts) to our local center, and the director there admitted she was very partial to the rag quilts for their clientele.

What is a rag quilt? I certainly have enough fabric to make some.

Hi, Mary, I am a native New Mexican living in Oregon. I have information where you can donate quilts for the victims of the flooding in Louisiana. PM me and I will give you the info. baconbit

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VNj1WO56iQ here is a youtube on how to make a rag quilt!

basically you can use flannel for all three layers works great! You do not need to buy really expensive fabric for charity in my opinion.
