    Default Janome Quilting Machine

I have a good friend who wants to begin quilting again. She is looking to buy a small sewing machine to take to classes.

I have the Janome AQS2009 model that I absolutely love. She is wanting to pay around $300 for a new machine.

Does anyone have the new Janome DC1050? The reviews look great but it is always better to get feedback from someone who actually has this machine.

    Any info would be appreciated!!

I personally don't think she can go wrong in buying ANY Janome. I have the Janome Jem Platinum 760 --- the smaller one, and have sewn MILES and MILES with it. I've made totes and quilts and wallhangings. I do NOT try to do machine quilting though -- it's too small. Can't help you with the DC1050, but do support the Janome.

ITA that I don't think you can go wrong with a Janome. With any machine/brand, IMHO the key is to be sure you have a good dealer behind it with in-store service. Also, that they are very knowledgable about the machines, provide lessons to help familiarize you with the machine, and on-going support as you have questions or need to learn a new trick!Janome's site shows the specs for all the machines. Have her compare the differences from one to the other, and see what is important to her. I always believe in buying one or two levels higher than you want ... if you like the machine, you'll use it a lot and then be wanting a better model, so ensure that first upgrade is built into the purchase! Then with that knowledge get her to go to the store and give them a test drive ... and compare IRL, asking lots of questions!!! (BTW I now have my fourth Janome! and I kept my 3rd as my take to class machine when I bought my 6600)
