I didn't peek at the what the others posted for ideas, but my first thought was how about a simple tumbler quilt? It could be all scrappy from so many different fabrics used.

If you could find a fabric that looks like Christmas tree branches, you could cut circles out of your fabrics and applique them on to look like baubles. You could use more of the fabric in a border or borders around the outside.

And with any leftovers you could make real baubles using styrofoam balls from your craft shop- so your lap quilt would match your tree
