Does anyone have this ... I know there are crochet or knit ones,
but seems like "scrappy" quilted ones would be special also.

McCall's quilting magazine had a shawl pattern in the Spring. It wasn't shaped - more like a big table runner with pockets on the ends. Good idea if it could be made soft enough. Maybe with no batting and fleece on the back with minimal quilting.

the fleece on the back would probably help keep it from slipping off
