If you want very very simple:
Fuise two holiday print fabric between a heavy pellon (preferably fusiable pellon) You will need another fusiable on the unfuised side. Make a large layer of fabric.
Use cookie cutters for design or other pattern. Draw around around and cut out. open a small section and insert another piece of fusiable and your hanging ribbon and refuise.

Another is make balls using (I believe a pentagon shape) and English type piecing. Stuff and hang.

I have used this last technique to make larger balls out of double knit for children's play balls.

If you use the paper pieced balls, and if I can find them I will send you some shapes already printed on lightweight card stock.

Thanks for your ideas, you are all great for coming to a person's rescue! I'm keeping a record of your ideas, because each year I try to do something different!

Thank you. The face is hand embroidered on a flesh tone fabric like ultra suede using a single thread, then I used brush on blush.
