QuiltnChick posted a GREAT tip for matching seams and the question came up (so far unanswered), what's a clapper?

hmmm... never heard of this - in the blog post she was working on a jacket - suggested ironing using steam. I've never used steam when I press my quilt tops - thoughts on this anyone?

Those have been around for years 'Our' ancesters used them, tailors ete...
