I just got the book from Barnes and Noble, only $6.95.Whom ever told us about this please pm me. Thank you, Ms. Shawn P.S. I will let everyone know how it is when I finish reading! 8-)

Ms. Shawn, it was me who posted it.

I've ordered the book, too, but it hasn't came yet. I just ordered it Mon. so I figure it will be here tomorrow.

I have read this book. It might be of interest to others to know that it is the story of the "Hatfield and McCoys", the feuding families in the Appalachian mountains. Guess most everyone has heard of them. This story tells how the feud began. It also gives details on how the 'coffin quilt' was made. Rather morbid in my opinion!

I have decided to have my "Memory Quilt" placed over my casket in lieu of family flowers (or whatever they deem apropos) and then the quilt will be folded and given to our son. I literally have put my life into 35 blocks - 735 squares, each square having a meaning to me. I also wrote a book with the meaning of each square and block. My quilting friends think it is a good idea. What are your feelings on it? Edie

I think its a wonderful idea. I'd love to see it, can you post a pic?

There's another thread going on about quilts at funerals, and I posted about this on it, too.

In my area, there are a group of quilters that make up quilts and when someone passes on they embroider their name, whatever the family wants on it, and people send those instead of flowers. They are beautiful arranged up there with the flowers, usually on a tripod or something, with a gathering at the top with a bow.

When my sister's MIL passed on, some of the family members went in and had one done for each of the 3 children. It meant a LOT to them. I still remember her husband's sister just holding on to that quilt, I'm sure it was much more comforting than some flowers that will wilt after a few days.

With one that you've made yourself, well, you can imagine how much that will mean to your son.
