I am new to quilting and I am stumped on a color choice for a quilt I'm working on. I would appreciate it if someone could give some ideas for the border and binding color. I've attached the colors I'm using. Any advice is appreciated

how about a thin border of the blue fabric then a wider border of the red fabric? The blue will hold the quilt in (frame it may be better way of expressing this) and the red will provide continuity. If you wanted to bring in a third fabric, you might want to try a thin yellow/gold inner border then either the red or blue for the outer border. You really need to sample these ideas up close and personal 8^) and see which one you like the best. It is your quilt after all.

You could also do something like bind the blue parts with your red fabric, and then bind the red with one of the golds/yellows picked up from the red print.

Pretty colors and patterns -- that's going to be a gorgeous quilt.

Pkinniard, I too am new to quilting. One thing I've learned is to "audition" various fabrics. Then, take pictures and look at them on the computer. It always amazes me how things pop doing it that way.

Be sure to post a picture once you make a decision.

What is the color of the room (s) that you are going to use the quilt in? That is what colors I would choose for the binding and border. If this is a general quilt then I would tone down the red with a thin gray or light inner border and then go with a border that has more blue in it.

I think I would skip the border altogether - those fabrics look great together. For binding, pull one of the colors in the fabrics.

What great fabric! This will be one beautiful quilt, no matter what you decide. If it were my quilt, I would make a small inner border of the blue inside the flowers on the "I think it is blue" fabric. Then I would make a larger outer border of the blue fabric with flowers. I would bind in the same fabric as my last border (just a person preference there.)

Be sure to lay out different ideas and look at them. That will help you decide. Sometimes I take pictures so I can compare ideas, and, sometimes, if I don't have any fabric the color I think I may want, I find a piece of clothing in that color and lay it beside it.

Make the decision making fun though. Don't make it stressful. Chances are that there are several good choices. You just need one you like. There is no right and wrong, no quilt police....just what is right for you. I have only been quilting 3 years and used to stress lots over color choice. It took me a while to relax a bit and enjoy it.

Red and blue are primary colors....that yellow on your getting board (also a primary color) is working for me. Maybe just tweek the tone!
