If it is a true antique of historical value, the antique roadshow says not to do anything. You need to do some research or find a quilt historian to evaluate it. If you find it has sentimental value only, there are different levels of fixes. Find like fabrics to repair frayed patches and binding and sew in by hand. Hand sew bridal tulle over frayed spots or fold and use as display only.

It doesn't have any historical value only sentimental. As far as different levels of fixes, I want a level that will allow my husband to continue to use the quilt he loves. It would be easy to match the material, I am just looking for someone with the skill level to do it and the time to treat the project with care. No one locally does any quilt repair.

narnianquilter, You might want to mention where you are located as there may be someone on the board who lives close enough to you who would be willing to take a look at what you have to be repaired. At least then you would not have to send it off and worry about loss.

    Narnianquilter,
I do this sort of work, but I'm not cheap. Let's talk by PM if you're interested.
