I found this neat little Americana sweater at Goodwill for $2.00. I thought it would be really cute incorporated into a quilt. Any suggestions on how to cut and make blocks from this?

Can you back the knit with lightweight iron-on interfacing to stabilize it? One piece, overlapping the buttoned band, would be cute.

Is the sweater wool? I think it would depend on the fabric. If you wanted maybe you could wash it in warm water and see how much it srinks. It sure is cute. I can see why you would want to use it. Good luck BrendaK

I would wash it hot to shrink it up and then applique it onto a quilt just like wool.

This sweater is not wool and looks as though it has been washed several times so I feel sure there will be no additional shrinkage. I have never appliqued before so I'll need to get a lesson on that. I just thought it was adorable and would look great in a themed quilt if I can figure out how to do it!

I don't know about a quilt, but how about a pillowcase and leave the buttons so you can use them to remove the pillow.

    It's cute!

That's a neat idea. Hadn't thought of that.

Treat it like you would a T-shirt quilt. However, this knit will ravel much more than T-shirts so after cutting I'd stitch around the edges before handling much.
