Here are pictures of some that I have done and works in progress. I make them larger than the 6 .5" needed, and turned my clear templates in crazy angles to make different looks. the bits that I cut off, go into another block. love it.

I have been saying pieces of all the projects I have been doing for the past 20 years, extra blocks, sample blocks, strips, etc. I feel so creative doing this. Any body interested in doing a crumb block monthly exchange? I am doing 6" finished blocks. I feel so "green" too right now, keeping the scraps out of the landfill (like I could throw away fabric, duh).

I would like to participate but I have never participated in a block exchange. Do I make one and pass it to someone, or do I make a bunch and get a bunch.
Also, can anyone tell me exactly what the difference is between crumb, string and crazy quilting? Will be watching for replies.

Look on the main forum page under block swaps, exchanges. I do a block of the month exchange there right now. Your partner chooses the theme or colors, or what have you. If there is enough interest, I would like to figure out a crumbs of the month swap, 6.5" unfinished, any color, any mix, do you think 3 different crumbs a month to swap would be too much? Let me know who is interested, would need at least 12 members, that would be 36 6.5" crumbs over a one year period.

I thought crumb quilts were made out of 1 or 1-1/2" squares. I thought about it doubt I would really enjoy it. I need to use up some squares I have not used and lots and lots of large amounts of fabrics first.

IMHO- these are my interpretation..
Crumb- scraps smaller than 2 inches, odd shaped
postage stamp- 1.5 to 2 inch squares
strings- long & thin.. 1x3 to 3-7 or longer..
scraps- anything less than a fq but larger than 2x2
crazy quilt- an embellished quilt
scrap quilt- egads of different fabrics in a pattern layout
Crumb quilt- crumbs sewn randomly to preferred quilt size or block..
