Some people just don't know what they have. Good for you saving them from the trash.

I live in Florida and haven't had any luck finding vintage machines at yard sales. I've been looking for a 500 or 503 Rocketeer for quite a while now with no luck. You're very lucky and I'm sure you can get these machines up and running.

I'd love to have the older machines. They are work horses.

wow amazing what people throw out. The Tiny Tailor is one of the worst machines ever made, the other 4 are good machines. Make sure that that 503 has the 0 cam or it won't do anything but straight stitch.

Sometimes you can get original manuals for them emailed from the company. I just got one for an older Viking emailed to me. They scanned the old manual into their data base and can send out to anyone who needs it. Love technology! Kudos to your DH.. A great find!

I don't know about all of them but I know the Singer 500 & 401 are considered among the best & sought after by collectors. I have a 500 I love, hopefully with a little cleaning oil & lube you can get them working.
